# Type.biz — full text for LLMs

Type.biz is a free typing practice and learning website. It has two parts: (1) a typing speed test with detailed results analysis, and (2) a structured 13-lesson touch typing course. It is ad-supported, requires no account, and stores all user progress (personal bests, result history, lesson completion, daily streak) in the visitor's browser localStorage only.

## Scoring
- WPM (words per minute) = (correct characters / 5) / elapsed minutes.
- Accuracy = correct characters / total typed characters.
- Consistency = 100 minus the coefficient of variation of per-second WPM, as a percentage.
- Every test and lesson ends with a weak-key heatmap: a keyboard diagram shading each key by how often it was mistyped.
- Benchmarks: average ≈ 40 WPM; above average 45–60; professional 60–80; expert 80+.

## The course (all at https://type.biz/learn/)
Pass bar for every lesson: 92% accuracy; the next lesson unlocks only after passing.
1. F and J (index fingers, home row)
2. D and K (middle fingers)
3. S and L (ring fingers)
4. A and ; (pinkies) — home row complete
5. G and H + home-row review
6. R and U (top row, index)
7. E and I (top row, middle) — first real words
8. W and O (top row, ring)
9. Q P T Y (top row complete)
10. V and M (bottom row, index)
11. C and comma (bottom row, middle)
12. X . Z / (bottom row complete)
13. Graduation: full sentences with capitals and punctuation

Finger assignments follow standard touch typing: each finger keeps the keys in its column and returns to the home row (left hand A S D F, right hand J K L ;) after every reach. F and J have tactile bumps as anchors.

## Other tools
- Daily challenge (https://type.biz/daily-challenge/): a date-seeded 60-second test; identical text for all visitors on the same calendar day; completing it maintains a locally stored streak; a result card image can be downloaded.
- Challenges (https://type.biz/challenges/): hub for the game modes below, plus the visitor's level (1-20), XP progress and 15 collectible badges, all stored on-device.
- Survival (https://type.biz/challenges/survival/): the clock starts at 12 seconds; a perfectly typed word adds 1.4 seconds, a word with a mistake adds 0.4 seconds; the run ends at zero; score is words typed.

- Quote Rush (https://type.biz/challenges/quote-rush/): timed test on real sentences with capitals and punctuation.
- Site-wide features: XP and levels for all activity, synthesized typing sounds (toggleable), dark/light theme (toggleable, persisted), all progress stored in the browser only.
- Numbers practice (https://type.biz/numbers-practice/): 60-second drills mixing digits with . , % $ # @ ! & + - = characters.
- Kids test (https://type.biz/typing-test-for-kids/): 25 common short words, larger type, word-count mode instead of a countdown.
- Certificate: after a completed test at 20+ WPM, the visitor may enter a name and download a PNG certificate showing name, WPM, accuracy and date. It is a self-generated keepsake, not a verified credential.
